The people behind Tomorrowland and Talenthouse are running a contest that’s a little different – they aren’t looking for your sick mixing or production skills. Nope, they’re on the hunt for someone with a good eye and a little creativity. Together, they are ultimately looking for someone to be the next official photographer for the 180,000 person three-day event in Belgium. Imagine your photo documentary of Tomorrowland 2012 being seen by millions of people across the world!

Tomorrowland’s Choice

One winner will be selected as the official photographer for Tomorrowland in Belgium in July 2012. Travel and four nights’ accommodation in Belgium will be provided.   Three runners-up (as selected by Tomorrowland) will have their submission featured on Tomorrowland’s social media channels and will receive exclusive Tomorrowland merchandise.

The highest voted artist will receive VIP tickets to Tomorrowland (travel and accommodation not provided) and will have their submission featured on Tomorrowland’s social media channels. In addition, they will receive exclusive Tomorrowland merchandise.

SnowGlobe Music Festival (2011) brought more than 30,000 people to the shores of South Lake Tahoe this New Year’s weekend, to share in their love of music, over the course of three epic nights. To document the experience, SnowGlobe worked directly with Colorado based production team, Cinesthetics, to tell its story. Cinesthetics spent several days before the event acquiring timelapses of beautiful South Lake Tahoe as well as the production build, and continued on to shoot the event in its entirety–including some of the afterparties. The result is a film that truly captures the spirit, sincerity and sense of community in modern music culture, while including cinematic images of many of the event’s featured artists.

David Guetta has been revealed as the next dance music star to grace a Coca-Cola bottle. The limited edition bottle is part of Coca-Cola’s ‘Club Coke’ series which launched in 2005, featuring Justice and So Me in 2009, Mika the year after and Daft Punk in 2011. The bottle was unveiled at the NRJ Music Awards Ceremony in Cannes this weekend and will be available only in ‘select trendy clubs’ and Monoprix stores across France starting February at the retail price of €1.00 to €1.50 a bottle in a limited edition box set.

What you do with the special box on the dance floor is up to you.

It still blows my mind how big Pretty Lights has gotten in the few years, and for all the right reasons. You’ve heard his amazing albums, all given away for free, and some of his epic remixes. His last single that he put out ‘I Know the Truth’ sent his listeners thinking he was going in a more bass fueled heavier direction, well today we hear that he’s still maintaining his downtempo side. This track ‘We Must Go On’ reminds me of his earlier stuff with the sample based vibe. Now I know Derek has been working with a ton of musicians throughout the country, so the samples used in the track are most likely recorded instead of taken from old vinyl. I love the PL vibe that shines through every track, it’s almost electronic music with a hip hop vibe. Blogs are reporting that someone has broken into the hotel room of Tim Berg aka Avicii. Many of you I’m sure remember when news broke that Sonny Moore aka Skrillex’s gear was stolen from his hotel room in Italy.

Avicii posted this message online:

“First of all – the Rochester show was amazing! BUT – for those who haven’t already heard – someone broke into my hotel room while I was SLEEPING and stole my bags! In a hotel full of fans that was a creepy thing to happen. I really hope someone helps me find them. I just want my stuff back so I can keep producing on the road.”

It’s sad, I respect Avicii and he must be devestated after realizing his gear is gone. These artists should honestly start paying their security personell to monitor their gear 24/7.

Following the success of the free, sold-out HARD x MOUTH TAPED SHUT shows (London, Stockholm, New York, Chicago and San Francisco) and the maiden voyage of HARD’s HOLY SHIP!, the world’s first three-day electronic music cruise, now comes news for the return of HARD SUMMER. For the first time in its 5-year history, the downtown Los Angeles destination festival will expand to a two-day event, Friday, August 3 and Saturday, August 4, and returns to the Los Angeles State Historic Park, this time with four stages and 60-plus artists. $99 two-day passes are on sale NOW at www.hardfest.com.

In 2011, HARD SUMMER—the largest ticketed music festival in the city of Los Angeles—took on a larger-than-life identity that culminated with 30,000 fans descending upon the Los Angeles State Historic Park to experience performances from an elite group of progressive electronic music artists, including Skrillex, Chromeo, Ratatat, Duck Sauce, Boys Noize, Odd Future and more. “This is the best welcome home party I’ve ever had,” said Skrillex in a piece at LAWeekly.com.

What can fans expect for HARD SUMMER 2012, a music festival known for its diverse lineup of the most cutting-edge, innovative electronic artists on the scene accompanied by trailblazers from both hip-hop and rock ‘n’ roll? Says HARD founder, promoter and DJ (as Destructo) Gary Richards: “My motto for this year is ‘Trust me.’ This is our fifth year, and I think by now we’ve shown the fans we bring the big names and we introduce the newest of the new every time. We want people to know that we’re so confident about this event that you can start making plans. Book your hotel, pick your outfits, reserve a car because there’s no doubt this is going to be the music event of the summer.”

As a two-day event, “there’s a new element of exploring downtown, meeting people from other places, and creating a whole weekend of adventures,” says Richards. “That’s on top of the 16 hours of madness inside HARD Summer’s boundless acres.”

Adds Richards: “It’s important to me that we as a city and as a company look at this as a destination festival and welcome the people who are going to travel here to our hometown to be a part of this experience. I’ll be happiest to see the boost to the local economy because this isn’t a car-camping, mud-puddle festival; this is right in the middle of gorgeous downtown LA. You’ve got Chinatown, Little Tokyo and all these wonderful places to visit here.”

HARD maintains a strong bond with its audience: “For our loyal L.A. fans, I think most of them already know why the success has grown with us,” says Richards. “HARD’s total ticket price is less than a fraction of other festival tickets, but you’re getting to see 60 amazing artists that I’ve hand-picked for you. You can get to and from the park quickly and safely on the Metro for mere pocket change. The park itself is beautiful, and I’m glad we’ve been able to bring it so much attention (and I can’t wait to surprise you all with some of the improvements we’re making).”

The 2012 line up will underline HARD’s commitment to exposing new talent. Explains Richards: “I’m always happy to give more exposure to the great acts that people haven’t necessarily gotten to see yet. But for the most part, this line-up is going to be about pairing some of the new talent you might not know yet with the legends of electronic music that have yet to play a HARD event. 2012 promises to double the experience.”
